Hello! I'm Cedar Worth, the owner and artist behind all of the eclectic and whimsical creations you see here at Spirit Root.

About

My specialty, and what sells best at markets and in stores, is my hand-crafted bone earrings. I love that each pair is truly a one-of-a-kind, wearable piece of art, with the majority of my designs created only once. I'm drawn to beads that complement and balance each design through their texture, shape, size, and color. I especially enjoy blending earthy, tactile, grounded elements with a more spiritual, whimsical, and celestial feel.
My creative practice embraces my neurodivergent identity and centers authenticity, curiosity, and my childlike wonder. Whether I’m combing the shores of Lake Mendota for pieces of lake glass and old, tumbled ceramic shards, roaming the aisles of thrift and antique stores, searching for dreamy beads online, or cruising Facebook Marketplace for the perfect vintage mirror to etch and bring new life to, I’m always on the lookout for treasures to incorporate into my art.
Mixed media work in particular is a sensory wonderland for me. I love both the chaotic, unpredictable nature of embedding objects into different mediums, and the immense amount of intention and care that goes into deciding how each element interacts with the others, where it belongs, and how deeply it should be embedded. I'm greatly inspired by midwestern grotto art, nostalgia and ephemera, and chaotic magic similar to Walter Wick's I SPY books.
I've loved art, especially drawing, since I was a kid. My illustrations are greatly inspired by my identity as a queer, trans, chronically ill, and Autistic individual with ADHD, as well as my desire for a better world and my belief that art is inspirational, affirming, and a tool for helping create the world we want.
Through Spirit Root, I invite you to embrace your own weird and unusual passions and pursuits. I hope my work not only brings you joy but also makes you feel a bit more like your wonderful whimsical self.
